Welcome to the Classical Dimension
Discover New Insight by Studying the Past While Refining the FormTai Chi is an art of the feel and flow of one’s own ‘inner balance’ of vitality and all of its teachings have to go hand-in-hand with its martial art defense applications. Moves do not make Tai Chi . . . Tai Chi is a process where we evolve within a single form, rather than the collecting of individual forms.
My name is Willie Lim and I am a pioneer of Tai Chi and Tae Kwon Do. I am not focused on any particular organization worldwide, thus no politics please. I call what I do the ‘Classical Dimension’ or the old way of Tae Kwon Do and Tai Chi. This is presently being revived by only a few instructors around the world who have been privileged to cross the path of Taika Oyata (Ryukyu Kempo [Old School Karate]) or Yek Sing Ong (Tai Chi Chuan).
Tae Kwon Do forms are copies of old Shotokan forms. A lot of the movements even in the Shotokan forms were watered down when it moved from Okinawa to Japan. Thus we were learning a watered down system of a watered down system. We read about forms holding all the secret of the art, yet all we do is block, kick, and punch. In this context then when we reach Black Belt we were still learning only the alphabet. Progressing up the Black Belt ranks made no difference, a few more forms with more precision and power, but still elementary. The real art is the hidden art within each of the forms, this is my specialty. I can take any Karate/Tae Kwon Do or Tai Chi form and show you how to use it for real, in a self defense situation, not in the context of block, kick, and punch.
After forty-seven years in martial arts I believe I have finally got a foot in the right door. I believe what I do in my classes and at the seminars will give you an honest approach to the art, not sport or traditional aspects mistaken for the ‘real’ art. I look forward to meeting you in the near future and introducing you to the ‘Classical Dimension’.
